About Proctor Hospital

Proctor is Celebrating 125 Years! Proctor Hospital provides unmatched healthcare experiences…every day. In fact, it’s our mission. Licensed for 233 beds, Proctor is home to over 1,150 employees and 450 area physicians and has been a vital part of the central Illinois medical community for 130 years. In 2012 the Hospital launched its advanced, paperless, electronic health record (EHR). The new system captures health information electronically as patients receive care and provides caregivers with up-to-date information when and where they need it.

The Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgical services utilizing the very latest in digital technology. It is a leader in the treatment of heart disease, with one of the most sophisticated cardiac surgical suites, and vascular labs, in downstate Illinois. Cardiac rehabilitation in the Burklund Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is exceptional.

Proctor’s team of emergency physicians and clinical staff treat acutely ill and injured patients in a safe and respectful environment. In August 2011 Proctor Hospital was approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an EMS Resource Hospital for the Proctor Hospital EMS System. “A resource hospital provides medical direction, education, and licensing to first responders, EMTs, and paramedics responsible for transporting patients to local hospitals,” said James Hubler, M.D. Emergency Department Medical Director and Medical Director for the Proctor Hospital EMS System. The Emergency Department includes new private rooms for pediatric patients – newborn to 17 years of age, and 16 patient rooms and an expanded emergency chest pain center.

Patient safety is the highest priority at Proctor. The Hospital participates in local and national initiatives for public reporting of quality measures promoted by organizations such as The Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Quality Quest for Health of Illinois.

The Hospital provides an excellent continuum of care for orthopedic patients, working with outstanding orthopedic surgeons; unmatched nursing care in its dedicated orthopedic unit; comprehensive physical therapy; and the area’s only hospital-based skilled nursing center for continued rehabilitation and care. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has named Proctor Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center+ in Knee and Hip Replacement. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care – which expanded recently to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety, as well as new cost-efficiency measures.

Women’s health services include state-of-the-art digital mammography, a comprehensive Family Maternity Center and a full range of gynecological surgical services.
